- National Organization of Professional Hispanic Natural Resources Conservation Service Employees (NOPHNRCSE) Scholarship Criteria:
- Hispanic ethnic group
- Pursue a Bachelors’ Degree in a natural resources or a natural resources conservation-related field of study at an accredited four-year institution
- Proof of U.S. citizenship
- Essay required
- Submit letter of acceptance from the collegethestudent plans to attend
- Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school students

- Martha Guerra Arteaga Scholarship ($1,000 - sponsored by NOPHNRCSE) Criteria:
- Be a female Hispanic student majoring in public affairs or a natural resources conservation-related field of study
- Other criteria and postmark deadline are the same as above
- 2007 Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Tournament (LafayetteParishSchool System) Criteria:
- Begin his/her freshman year in 2007-08 in an accredited Louisiana college, university, or vocational-technical school
- Enroll as a full-time student (12 or more hours)
- Finish high school with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Demonstrate financial need
- Complete application form, including the essay, with all required documentation (transcript, ACT/SAT results, names of two references – one academic, one non-academic, copy of signed current federal tax return of parent/guardian
- Application Deadline: Completed application packages must be submitted no later than Friday, March 30, 2007. Application forms and additional information is in the CHS Counseling Department.
- L. Hill Bonin, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Criteria:
- Be a high school or college student pursuing short-time opportunities in performing arts. For more information contact the Performing Art Society of Acadiana, P.O. Box 52979, Lafayette, LA (phone: 237-2787)
- Williams/Green Families’ Community Scholarship ($1,000): This cash award is presented annually to a high school senior who exhibits leadership traits and commitment to the Lafayette community. It can be used at the college or university of the recipient’s choice to assist in the cost of tuition and related expenses.
- Minimum GPA of 2.0
- Submit a resume’ that includes basic information and a list of school and civic activities
- Submit a 500-word essay (typed and doublespaced) on the topic, “The Importance of Community Involvement and Volunteerism.”
- Submit three letters of recommendation for non-related individuals familiar with the candidate, such as clergy, teachers, counselors or employers

- 2007 Student-View Scholarship Program: These scholarships are offered to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. The program includes one $3,000 scholarship, two $1,000 scholarships, and six $500 scholarships

- Deadline is April 15, 2007 .
- Lafayette Schools’ Federal Credit Union 2007 Scholarship: This organization funds two scholarships for graduating seniors from any high school in Lafayette or Acadia Parish. These students must be members of LSFCU, possess academic potential and a desire to succeed.
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a member (have your own savings account) of the credit union in good standing
- Be graduating from high school in the spring of 2007 with plans to qattend an accredited college, university, or technical school in the fall of 2007
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on 7 high school semesters)
- Have a minimum score of 21 on the ACT exam
- Complete an application and personal essay
- Immediate family members of current LSFCU Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee Members, and current LSFCU employees are not eligible for the scholarship. Selection of recipients will be made by the Scholarship Committee. The scholarship recipient must complete the fall semester as a full-time student (12 semester hours) and maintain a 2.5 GPA to receive funds for the second semester.
- Application Deadline: Completed application packages must be received by the Credit Union no later than February 15, 2007.
- LAFAYETTE PARISH SCHOOL SYSTEM SUPERINTENDENT’S SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT ($2,000)
- The LPSS Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Tournament was established to fund scholarships for seniors graduating from the five Lafayette Parish public high schools. The purpose of the scholarship program is to award a one-year scholarship to those students who possess academic potential, financial need, and a desire to succees; but who may not have received other funding for college.
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Begin his/her freshman year in 2007-08 at an accredited Louisiana college, university, of vocational-technical school
- Enroll as a full-time student (12 or more hours)
- Finish high school with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Demonstrate financial need
- Application Deadline: Completed application packages must be submitted no later than Friday, March 30, 2007, to the Superintendent’s Scholarship Committee at the LPSS. Notification of the scholarship award will be given during May 2007.
- NSU President’s Leadership Program for Freshmen: Thirty participants selected for this program receive a $300 scholarship in the fall and again in the spring semester of their freshman year. PLP participants are a selective group of freshmen who are provided the opportunity to advance leadership skills through a curriculum dedicated to student participation. PLP students are enrolled in the Counseling 1010 class for the fall term and the Counseling 1020 class during the spring.

- Attend the PLP selection day to be held February 24, 2007 at Northwestern State University
- Application Deadline (postmark): February 1, 2007
- 2007 All-USA High School Academic Team: USA TODAY, in cooperation with the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the National Education Association, is searching for 20 of the best and brightest high school students to recognize as representatives of all outstanding high school students. When identified, they will be honored as members of USA TODAY’s 21 st All-USA High School Academic Team, to be announced in May. A $2,500 cash award will be presented to each of the 20 students on the First Team.
- Criteria: Students should excel not only in scholarship but in leadership roles within and outside the school. The key elements, to be given most weight by the judges, will be a student’s outstanding original academic, artistic or leadershipendeavors. The judges will be influenced by the student’s ability to describe the effort in writing, supplemented by recommendations from the nominating teacher a two other persons of the nominee’s choice.
- Deadline:Interested students must contact Mrs. Marshall no later than Monday, February 12, 2007, as nominations must be postmarked by February 20 th. Remember, an essay is required.
- LOUISIANA MUNICIPAL CLERKS’ ASSICIATION SCHOLARSHIP
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Minimum ACT of 21
- Complete the application
- Submit a 500-1,000 word essay on the subject “Why I should consider a Career in Government.”
- The selection of the scholarship recipient will be made at the Louisiana Municipal Clerks’ Association Spring Conference in March. Proof of college registration will be required before the scholarship is issued.
- Application Deadline is February 7, 2007.
- SLU 2007 EXCEL LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is for students who plan to attend SLU and be active in campus organizations. Recipients will receive $500 for each of their first four semesters with an option for continued scholarships in later semesters. Each of the 50 recipients will be expected to become an active member of a campus organization and fultill other leadership training obligations at SLU.
- Criteria:
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Proven leadership in high school (class officer or club officer
- Have applied for admission to SLU
- Application deadline is February 3, 2007
- McNEESE STATE UNIVERSITY BAND SERVICE AWARD: Students must audition at one of these scholarship audition dates (MSU Band Hall):
- Friday, February 9, 2007, 12:00 PM
- Friday, March 16, 2007m 12:00 PM
- Registration begins at 12 Noon in the MSU Band Hall. Morning classes are available for student observation. Contact the Department of Performing Arts (1-800-622-3352) or the McNeese Band Office (337-475-5004). Students may also call and request a separate audition for the “Pride of McNeese” Service Awards. Students may be eligible for Band Servide Awards of $800 or more for participation in the fall semester. See Mr. Rousse for additional information and application. Guard auditions will occur in late April. Although the audition dates are designed primarily for music majors, students who wish to audition for the “Pride of McNeese” Band Service Award may do so on these dates.
- Priority deadline for all Band Service Award applications is April 15.
